EV Charger Use & What to Expect - Your Questions Answered

At EV On the Move, we want every driver to feel confident and informed when charging their electric vehicle. Whether you are new to EVs or already on the road to sustainability, here are some of the most common questions about EV charging and what you can expect from our network.

Charging time depends on your vehicle’s battery size and the type of charger you use.

  • Ultra Rapid / Super Chargers (150kW – 350kW): 10 – 20 minutes for 80% charge.
  • Rapid chargers (50kW–150kW): 20–45 minutes for 80% charge.
  • Fast chargers (7kW–22kW): 2–6 hours for a full charge.
  • Slow chargers (up to 3kW): Ideal for overnight charging at home or long-term parking.

EV On the Move uses a growing network of fast and rapid chargers, so you can get back on the road quickly and efficiently.

Not necessarily. For most daily driving, it is best to keep your battery between 20% and 80%.

Charging to 100% is fine occasionally, for example, before a long journey. However, frequent full charges can shorten overall battery life over time.

Our EV On the Move App will include smart charging tips and notifications to help you charge efficiently and protect your battery health.

Yes, extreme temperatures can affect both charging speed and battery range.

Cold weather can slow down charging and temporarily reduce range.

Hot weather can cause the battery management system to adjust charging rates for safety.

Our chargers are equipped with smart temperature management features, and most EVs automatically regulate their batteries to optimise performance in all conditions.

Most EVs are compatible with the standard connectors found at all EV On the Move charging points. Combined Charging System (CCS) for DC rapid charging (used by most modern EVs).

Always check your vehicle’s connector type and charging capability. Our on-site signage and EV On The Move mobile app will help guide you to the correct charger for your car.

Pricing varies depending on the charger type, location, and current electricity rates.

Our EV On the Move mobile app and Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) card will provide transparent, real-time pricing along with exclusive loyalty offers and savings for registered members and corporate fleet users.

Modern EVs are designed to handle fast charging safely. However, using rapid chargers exclusively may cause slightly faster battery wear over many years.

For best results, mix fast charging on the go with regular slow or overnight charging when convenient.

While your EV will automatically stop drawing power once charged, it is best to move your vehicle promptly to allow others to use the charger and avoid idle fees.

Our EV On The Move app will notify you when the charge is complete.

We are committed to a cleaner, greener future. Our charging stations use renewable energy sources wherever possible, and we are continually expanding our eco-friendly retail and business hubs to support sustainable transport growth.

We are constantly evolving and with the upcoming launch of our EV On the Move mobile app and Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) card, we are bringing smarter charging, exclusive offers, and seamless user experiences to every journey.
